That no tech/no iPhone idea lasted about 15 hours maybe. So that’s the bad news. The good news is that I made time for that morning run plan and hit my long distance mileage. You win some, you lose some.
Turns out my whole life is on my iPhone. Depressing but true. I had to access it several times for information. Then all the emails and texts and chats and voicemails started coming in (“Are you ignoring us? Why didn’t you answer your phone?” Me: “Uh no… Went to work late…I was running…”). But with that onslaught of media also came an email from my sister-in-law telling me that she had also made time for a morning run and was getting psyched for the Wine & Dine. And you know what? I needed that.
This is my life right now. This is the status quo. It’s hard to fit running into a life crammed with work, kids, school (mine not theirs), spouse, chores, and the south Florida rainy season (I told myself I wasn’t going to talk about the rain again in my posts…. another FAIL… seriously the rain is outta control!!!). But maybe it’s time to stop comparing myself to Me Circa 2009 and start patting myself on the back for keeping with running through some hard times. Also, hey, there are some great running things to look forward to. For one, my running buddy has come back in action! That’s a miracle right there. My running buddy is unpredictable at best. Hey, who needs steady, dependable, predictable running buddies anyway? Not me!!
