Started back running this week and it felt better than I imagined. The first day out I had a firm “1 mile” policy because I knew I’d just take off and not stop. Sure enough, at the half mile turnaround, inner conflict began: “Maybe I’ll just go another half mile and make it a nice 2 mile starter run. I was running so far before! My body might be ok not starting from scratch…” Buuuuut I promised my better half that I wouldn’t push it and that I would start slow. Besides, if I was honest with myself, my sutures felt like they were pulling apart. Minor detail.
Got home and felt like a million bucks. The weather was perfect too. Another reason I was annoyed at such a short run. In another annoyances, my damn GPS watch wasn’t working. Luckily I didn’t really need it on this one, but I would have liked to have seen my pace, just for kicks. Well, it wasn’t that my GPS wasn’t working so much as it was that I forgot how to work it. Forgot that the Garmin was this touch screen thing. Also forgot that my playlist SUCKED. What the hell was I listening to back in the day? I could devote volumes to the hell that is putting together run playlists but I’ll get to that later. For now let me say that it’s good to be back!
